Eagle Downs Coal Mine Structural Integrity
AEP Elical was selected by Eagle Downs Coal Mine (EDCM) to conduct a structural integrity audit. AEP used its civil expertise to visually inspected all structures and infrastructure on-site to assess the current condition of steel and concrete structures, and produced a report for the client. The potential risk exposure to EDCM was also evaluated.

Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Machine Condition Assessments: Electrical and Controls
AEP Elical were engaged by DBCT to undertake a number of condition assessments reviewing the electrical and control systems for DBCT’s yard machines. AEP Elical provided DBCT with an assessment of the asset’s condition, residual life and helped identify compliance issues with current relevant standards. The works provided were used for asset management planning including upgrades and the consideration timing for machine replacement.

Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Power Distribution System Condition Assessments
AEP Elical was engaged by DBCT to undertake condition assessments of the electrical and control systems for site electrical infrastructure. This infrastructure included 18 substations and 6 RMUs. The objective was to provide an assessment of each assets condition, residual life and identify compliance concerns with current relevant standards. The assessments assisted management with planning upgrades and timing for asset replacements.

We provided functional safety expertise to support the delivery of the modernisation of BMA Fixed Plant Control Systems, an initiative to align, install and/or modify BMA fixed plant control systems with best-in-class practices and integrate high performance, reliable technology. We reviewed the existing installation and provided improvement pathways. Following successful completion, AEP Elical was re-engaged for the next phase.

Gold Mine Project Review (Geopacific)
AEP Elical assisted in the development of the Woodlark Gold Project in Papua New Guinea, which involved completing a fatal flaws review of the estimate of remaining capital required to complete the Project, including process plant EPC, wharf DSTP, camp, civils, mining pre-strip and owner's costs. Additionally, AEP reviewed the company/project organisation structure and project readiness.

Challenger Gold Operations Electrical Safety Review

Nyrstar Slag Fuming Plant Upgrade Process Design
Nyrstar Port Pirie Pty Ltd (Nyrstar) has engaged AEP Elical to prepare a process design and validate the preferred option to install a new settling pond, cooling tower, pumps and other associated equipment to upgrade the current Slag granulation and dewatering system to a closed loop system for the granulation water.

Rio Tinto Stacker Plant Integrity Reviews
AEP Elical successfully completed Plant Integrity Reviews (PIRs) for Rio Tinto’s Stacker 1 & 2 machines at Paraburdoo. AEP Elical’s scope included all electrical and control system aspects of the review. The reviews were used to assist the asset owners on developing sustainability plans for each assessed machine for continued operation.

BMA Fixed Plant Control System Infrastructure Upgrade Safety Review
AEP Elical was engaged by BMA and successfully delivered the Identification Phase Study (IPS) for the Functional Safety Stream of the BMA Fixed Plant Control System Infrastructure Modernisation project. The study was to consider modernisation of all legacy fixed plant control system hardware, instrumentation and interfaces with other systems such as switchboards, motor control centers and packaged plants.

Bulk Handling Equipment Condition & Integrity Assessments
AEP Elical has undertaken numerous asset integrity revies for large mining machines at ports and mines in coal, iron ore and alumina and grain plants. These studies have included condition assessments, asset integrity and life extension studies, maintenance strategy reviews, functional and machine safety reviews, and upgrade feasibility studies. Our experience covers sustaining capital projects and compliance reviews. The types of machines include shiploaders, stacker/reclaimers, radial and bridge reclaimers.

BMA Coal Sites Functional Safety Assessments
As part of BMA’s MoBMACs project, AEP Elical provided functional safety services to support compliance across all coal sites, contributing to the alignment, installation, and modification of fixed plant control systems to meet Queensland mining and BMA standards, sustain infrastructure integrity, and de-risk Value Chain Automation through the IPS, SPS, and DPS phases.
