Sam Perkins

Electrical Engineer

Sam is a University of Queensland alumnus with design, studies and commissioning experience in industrial electrical, control and instrumentation systems.  He played a key role in the collation, analysis and presentation of powerplant performance data for the AEMO 2025 Thermal Audit where AEP Elical undertook an audit of powerplant performance and improvement opportunities for all thermal power stations >30MW across the NEM.

Sam has worked in the mining and ports industries in Western Australia and Queensland. More recently he has hands on experience with site commissioning and instrumentation in a mineral processing facility. He has played a key role in a Functional Safety Assessment for a coal mine and participated in studies on power distribution systems and conveyor drive systems for Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal.  

Sam is proficient in a variety of coding languages with experience in small scale embedded systems projects. He is eager to expand his expertise in automation, control, and power systems, leveraging his multidisciplinary skills to support AEP’s innovative projects.
